I just replaced intake man. gaskets along w/ new upper intake plenum (includes new pcv valve + housing), on 97 Olds Regency 3.8, due to gasket failure & coolant in cylinders / crankcase. Oil was changed. Car started up fine with white smoke for 10 minutes which then went away. Drove for 20+ miles. Get the feeling something not right. Checked plugs – all dry. Checked PCV and found wet & oily (coolant ?). Checked my 97 Bonneville to compare and found bone dry w/ only light varnish stain.

No, it should not be oily. Check that you have the large O’ ring on the bottom of the PCV valve. If not, it will cause the engine to burn oil VERY fast. Check your oil level ASAP.

yes, the pcv is seated in the small o ring and the cap is sealed w/ the large o ring. whatever this is, is coming thru the pcv.

If the ‘O rings are sealing, then there should be nothing getting in that area.
