I REPLACED STATER,”BATTERY” CABLES, AND CONNECTORS ON A 98 BUICK LESABRE 3800 EFI. THE ENGINE TURNS OVER NOW, DOES HAVE SPARK,FUEL IN THE TANK, PUMP IS PUSHING FUEL THRU THE FILTER,—–BUT WILL NOT START! I SPRAYED STARTING FLUID INTO BREATHER AND GOT NOTHING,….. ANY SUGGESTIONS.
RE: If you’re sure you have spark and fuel, then it can only be one of two other things….loss of compression, or a security issue. Does the security light stay on or flash constantly with the key on and all doors closed? If so, you are probably in need of an ignition cylinder. If not, check compression and go from there. Also, I wouldn’t rely on just seeing fuel pushed through the filter as an absolute positive guess for correct fuel pressure. You may want to do an actual pressure test with a gauge. A couple other possibilities are a faulty crank or cam sensor, or a bad ignition module, or possibly even a faulty computer.
