I just did new head gaskets on a 2000 3400. After getting it back together I wasn’t getting fire on all cylinders. I took off the valve covers to find that not all the valves are cycling. Of the one that aren’t a few of the push rods don’t come anywhere close to touching the rockers. The others the rods are touching but not moving the rockers at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The 3.4 engine, along with all the different variations of that engine, such as the 3.1, 3.5, and 3.9 all have different length pushrods for the intake and exhaust valves. You must have mistakenly put some of the pushrods in the wrong positions. Unfortunately, if you’ve tried to fire up the car, you most likely have bent some of the pushrods that were in the wrong place. You’re going to have to disassemble the top half again and check for damage. Replace any broken parts and then reinstall everything back in the correct positions. Just for future reference, the exhaust pushrods are the longer of the two.

See this link for 3400 pushrod location
