2001 Honda CR-V Overheating

      I own a 2001 Honda CR-V with about 190k miles on it. All of a sudden I had problems with the car overheating while sitting in traffic. Head gaskets, hoses, etc were replaced about a month ago due to overheating/coolant leaking. This worked for a couple of weeks, then had same issue. Was told the head may be warped/cracked. Bought a BRAND NEW head. After the head was replaced, the car lasted FOUR days of driving before overheating and cutting off. If car starts, it takes a while and now white smoke comes out of exhaust. What else could the issue be!??! Do I have another cracked head??

      I have a 91 Honda accord which i just replaced the thermostat and radiator. my car still overheats and my heater only blows cold air. Can you please help me solve this issue?

      RE: The cooling system could have air in it still that needs to be bled out. When there is an air pocket, the coolant can’t flow to all the places it needs to and usually results in overheating and no heat coming out of the vents. If the cooling system does not require bleeding, then you have an issue that was not corrected by replacing the thermostat and radiator. You could have a blown head gasket, bad water pump, or a restriction somewhere.

        REPLY: Make sure the RADIATOR fans come on at about 220 degrees. Though you replaced the THERMOSTAT and radiator, please check once again the thermostat and make sure that there is COOLANT in the car, and also ensure that heater valve is opening.

      So this morning i was pulling out of drive way turned right and my belt started to squeak but for a few seconds and stop and it hasn’t done it since i tried to get it to do it again but nothing should i b worried

        No, i would not worry about it. There may have just been a little moisture on the belt in the morning. Keep an ear open and if it starts happening again, then look at the belt condition, belt tensioner and all the other pulleys- like power steering ant alternator.

      Couldn’t find Hyundai forum so will ask here. When I come to a stop after traveling at 50-60 miles per hour, the engine sounds like it wants to die and the valves rattle very noisily. I have to apply brakes harder to keep car from lunging forward. Feels like the engine wants to “burp”, if that makes sense. I have to put the car in neutral to keep it from stalling. LX 2005 model, auto, 3.5 litre, 109k miles. thanks.

        The valves rattling is probably just a result of the engine being near stall.
        With an engine idle problem on your Hyundai, it sounds like a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak only effect engine idle. This causes the engine to run very lean- not enough fuel for the amount of air entering the engine.

        You can spray brake cleaner around the engine to find a vacuum leak. When located, the engine will surge higher RPM. Be very careful with brake clean as it is very flammable. Stay away from sources of ignition or it WILL cause a fire.

      If white smoke is coming out of exhaust, there is an engine problem. White smoke is burning coolant, blue smoke is burning oil, black smoke is too much gas.

      Depending on how bad the engine overheated originally, the engine block could be cracked. Not to say that was the original problem, but it sounds like that is the issue now.

      It could have been something as simple a a stuck thermostat, plugged radiator or radiator fan not working to cause the first overheat, now that damaged something else.

      I have a Honda Civic 2012 and I just put air into my tires a few days ag and the tire pressure light went off. Now it’s on again – help

        You could have a tire that went low again because it has a leak, or you could have a bad tire pressure sensor.
