Buick 2003 Regal lights need to be on to start

      Saw an article that says the ignition replacement will solve this is it the key switch, electronic part of the ignition or the multi function switch need replacement?

      RE: Sounds like you have an ignition switch problem. Not the key cylinder, the switch. This supplies voltage to most of the cars systems. Do you have an alarm on your Buick ?

      It is absolutely the Ignition Switch, not the key cylinder. I had the exact same problem. GM dealer wanted $300+ for the ignition switch (series of braided wires with a connector on each end) and about 2 hrs labor for a mechanic. I bought off eBay for fraction of that. Friend installed in 40 minutes.

      Yes, I agree. This is a problem with the ignition switch on your Buick. After replacement of the part a theft / security relearn procedure would not need to be done to get the car to start unless you replaced the key cylinder.
