I disconnected the battery to replace the rack and pinion, went to start the car and it wont start, have power to everything, radio readout says “locked” and the icon on the dash shows the lock in locked position, resulting in the car not starting, the car is a 2004 Malibu le,v6 engine.

RE: what I did was disconnect the battery again and reconnected it and it started right up..Thanks for the advice though.

I have a 99 Malibu that cranks but won’t start. I went to the store and came back and now it wont start, and the instrument cluster doesn’t light up. I checked all the fuses.

Check to see if your battery is any good. If it is, check for a bad ignition switch,

I HAVE A 2003 MALIBU , IT HAS A 3100 THAT HAS ROD BROKE AND HOLE IN BLOCK , I HAVE A 99-2000 LONG BLOCK THAT IS REMAN, ITS NEVER BEEN INSTALLED , AND WAS GAVE TO ME FROM FRIEND , I NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN PUT IT IN MALIBU WITHOUT A LOT OF HASSELS, I HAVE A INTAKE AND THROTTLE BODY AND INJECTORS AS WELL, ANY HELP WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATED THANK YOU .

RE: It should match right up, there weren’t many differences between those years of the 3100 engines. Just make sure to swap everything over, including sensors, wiring harnesses, etc. Should be an easy exchange.

I have replaced the turn signal switch and I still have no turn signals. Hazards work but nothing else. Fuses all look good.

      RE:

Replace the hazard switch, it is also the flasher for the turn signals and there have been many known problems with them. You might want to check with your local GM dealer, as there may even be a recall on the hazard switch which then you could get replaced for free.

Yes, the turn signal switch is very common to cause the problem with the lights.

misfire #1 cylinder. Blown head gasket, and warped head. Exhaust valve burnt. After new seals, and valves, and head, does there need to be any compression checks. also the EGR valve was not replaced, and was leaking.

You do not need to do any compression or cylinder leak down checks unless you just want to confirm that the job was done correctly. If you mean that after this work, the engine now has a misfire on #1 cylinder, then yes I would do these test. But also check the basics- spark, injector pulse.
