      I have a 1996 pontiac grand am se. 6cy. while on my way home the fuse blew under the hood that controlled my shift. Once in park i could not get it out unless i changed the fuse. now it blows the fuse every time it goes out of park. I purchaced a handheld computer to check for codes and this is what it ran:

      *TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit (P1860);

      * Shift solenoid B Electrical (P0758);

      * EVAP purge solenoid control circuit (p1655);

      * EVAP vent solenoid control circuit (p1675);

      * Shift solenoid A Electrical (p0753);

      *TCC Enable solenoid circuit (p1864);

      * EGR valve pintle position circuit (p1406)

      If anyone could help me with these, i am trying to do the repairs myself but if they are electrical i need to know if i need to take my car to a mechanic. Also if all of these codes could be registering from a single source.

      Hello, I’m new here and not very good with cars, but I’ve been having a problem with my car for a while now.

      Every once in while, when I’m on a free way or somewhere else where I am already going fast and I need to speed up even more, my SES light with flash and “Trac off” will come on, and the car will not speed up. After a few seconds, the car rapidly speeds up and the lights immediately go off.

      What is happening here???? And do you think it would be an expensive fix/is it worth it to have it looked at?

      Thank you so much

        The check engine light flashes when the engine has a missfire bad enough to damage the CATALYTIC CONVERTER. A bad MISFIRE would cause it to not accelerate. Many check engine light codes will disable the traction control system.

        You need to have the computer scanned for codes to see what cylinder(s) is missfiring and get that fixed. That will take care of the not accelerating and the trac light.

          REPLY: It seems you may be having a problem with the transmission. If there is a problem with shifting or something else that sets the SES light on, the traction control will also default to ‘off’ so as not to cause any other problems. Since you’re already at speed when this happens, and you say it won’t accelerate at that time, it could be a downshift problem or other internal transmission problem. There should have been a trouble code set in the computer, which can help in diagnosis. This type of repair can get fairly expensive, so it’s up to you whether to have it looked at or repaired. I guess it depends if you feel the vehicle is worth putting money into.

      The EVAP and EGR codes are setting due to a problem in their respective areas and are not part of the other problems. The other codes you have are all transmission related. You could have a bad solenoid inside the trans that is shorted out, or more likely the wiring harness inside the transmission has become shorted since you have multiple trans codes. This is a very involved repair which requires disassembly of the transmission. If you are not familiar with doing a job like this, you should take it to a mechanic.

        Yes, you need to have it flashed with your VIN number.
