Live Chat: I’m having the same problem as far as the ABS and Traction control light coming on. I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox and when ever I start the truck and go to pull off the brakes starts to vibrate and is hard to stop until the ABS and Traction control light comes on and then your able to brake with no problem but the lights stay on. I just replaced the rotors, brake pad & abs wheel speed sensor and still have the same problem with abs and traction control light coming on…Any advise of what next to do??

No under normal breaking the Abs is working as though under heavy breaking until lights come on.
OK. Then you have an ABS speed sensor or wiring to a sensor problem. You say you replaced a speed sensor. Which one did you replace and why did you replace it?
Drivers side and because of this problem.
Was that a guess to replace that sensor, or did you have the system scanned for codes and got one for that side?
Took it to a shop and they said it was out of range.
They said it was that side. Second one in less than a month.
Well, without knowing the code they got, assuming it was for that one, then you may have a wiring problem to that sensor, and not the sensor itself. Are the sensors you are putting on non-factory, inexpensive parts? The sensor reads a toothed ring inside the wheel bearing/hub assembly. It is also possible that hub is bad.
OK. Then you need to inspect the wiring very closely from the sensor up to the frame and up to the Brake module. Pull on the wires to see if one stretches. A better way is to use a meter to check the wires for continuity from the module to the sensor connector. If wires are good, I would suspect a bad hub bearing. Again, without knowing the exact code number, this is just an educated guess.
Is this a recurring problem?
We have seen wiring problems on this and other vehicles. Every time the steering wheel is turned, the wiring harness to the front sensors move a little. Over time this can cause them to break.
You know it might have something to do with the steering wheel is turned and where is the harness located that this might happen?
I mean the wiring at the front wheels. When the wheels are turned during normal driving.
At the wheels in the steering column at the steering knuckle?
At the wheels / knuckle area. The harness that connects to the speed sensor harness.

2005 Chevrolet Equinox
I just got two new tires put on the front of the car. And whenever I go more then 45 mph. My Traction Control System [TCS] light come on. And make the car stay at 45 or less. This never happen before only today when I got my tire put on the car. Is there any way to get this fixed.

Go look at the sidewall of all four tires and get the size off of them.
Thank you They are all not the right size. The size my car uses is P235/65/17 and the two front tires they put on p235/55/17.
That is your problem then! You need the correct size tires and you’ll be fine.

Brakes Get Hot
Sometimes while driving, car develops bad vibration in front end. So bad you can barely drive it. When I get home, the left front wheel is very hot and splattered with grease. If I let the car sit for a while, then drive it again, it is fine. Sometimes several days go by with no problems, then it happens again. Already replaced the caliper and wheel hub. I think something in ABS system may not be letting the the left front caliper release. ABS light has never come on in this car.
If the brake caliper and hub bearing did not fix it, you may have a brake line deteriorating inside bausing the fluid pressure to not release. Also check for contaminated brake fluid.

No, this is definitely not an EGR valve problem. A traction problem is usually caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor. This will usually also cause an ABS warning light.
I too have had numerous brake issues , tc and abs light, replased besring hubs, srnsors still have the issurs, it is currently in the shop and they called and said its the besring and sensor again, sorry that is not the issue, i need this fixed!!!
I had an vibrating breaks and an ABS light on, found 6 plugs(4 front, 2 back) to spray with contact cleaner and no help. Finally the last plug fixed the problem. Next time I will add grease to this plug. It has 4 wires on the plug, it is under the car in the center between the rear tires. This really did the trick!!

My engine control light, on 2010 Chevy Equinox, has been on and off for about two months. It began after our area was blanketed with smoke from forest fires. When I took it in for diagnosis today, I was told the Actuator Solenoids need replacing.
8 months ago, pistons, rings, balance shaft chain, timing chain & fuel pump were all replaced after a oil leak discovered. Could the current problem with Solenoids be related to the forest fire smoke or to the oil leak?
06 equinox brake pedal pumps up at end stop sometimes an a slight vibration, also have a what sounds like a rubbing sound at all times, that I was told was a wheel bearing, don’t know, that started all at once, thank you…..
A vibration in the brakes is usually caused by a warped brake rotor. A rubbing sound would be a bad hub bearing. Read this article which explains how to determine which hub bearing is bad. It is about a Ford, but still applies…

How difficult is it to replace the sensor wiring harness?
If you get the complete harness, it just plugs in on both ends. If it it just what they call a pigtail, then you must solder the wires into he vehicles harness.

Front rotors are warped. Get the computer scanned for the warning lights. You have an ABS and/or traction control problem.

I have a 2006 LT Chevy equinox my car was riding fine all of a sudden it start raining & my roof & both side start leaking. This has never happened ever. In this vehicle or ant car never. I run in the library for 5mins come out start the car up & the engine, TC, & some other light that looks like the engine light but w/arrow pointing downward come on & the car wouldnt move.
Well, it sounds like you have a sunroof. These are known for causing electrical problems. A common problem on the Chevy Equinox is a connector on the drivers side of the dash. Open the door and remove the panel on the dash. You will find a large connector. Disconnect it and look for corrosion. Usually it will be green. If you find that, clean it up real good, clear the codes in the computers, and then fix the water leak. Most likely the drains are clogged.
my abs and tc light stays on just had hub bearing replace and light still on
If the hub bearing did not fix your ABS and traction light, then most likely there is a broken wire in the small harness to that sensor. Usually just a few inches from the connector of the hub, around the lower ball joint.
